Room 5 Update

Room 5 have had a busy start to the term. We have been working on wearable art creations as a senior school. The creations are incredible and will be shown at the end of year concert.

In maths we are learning about fractions and decimals, we love maths!!!!! Our theme for the term is technology creation and evolution. We are looking at how materials we use everyday have changed over time. We are also looking at the 3Rs, recycle, reduce and re-use.

We have been writing some wonderfully creative recounts. We will post some of our introductions soon.

Check out the All Whites website: www.allwhites.onsport.co.nz. It has lots of great information about our national soccer team. You can view player profiles, watch video clips and send them messages of support. Go team!

We have been working really hard in class this term on our inquiries. Our theme for the term was Happy Habitats and we had to research an area around this. We have inquiries around ecosystems, food webs, food chains, plants, animal adaptations, animal diseases and invertebrates. Come into Room 5 and check out our wall models or take a look at our PowerPoint presentations-they rock!

Mrs Rogers has found a cool maths site www.sumdog.com You can sign up for free or play the maths games as a guest. If you sign up, you can create your own avatar and track your progress. You can play against the computer, your classmates or other avatars.

Room 5 has signed up with tutpup. It is a maths website that lets us challenge other people around the world to basic facts maths challenges in a safe environment. At school we are called yellow chicken 2032. We can also do spelling and other maths challenges too.

Students can sign up at home, our class code is rockin5. Students do not have to write down their name or any personal details.
